Leonard Harris just opened Fresh Mex, located inside Captain Andy’s Mtn. Market on Ash Street. His takeout specialties include tacos, burritos, enchiladas, rice and beans. Leonard is originally from Gilroy, but has lived in Westwood for the past 16 years.

Big Springs Gardens kicks off its seasonal opening this weekend. Friday night will feature live music and happy hour at 5 p.m. followed by a barbecued buffet dinner at 6 p.m. The breathtaking gardens have been referred to as the “Monet of the Mountains.” Well worth the scenic drive, Big Springs Gardens is located three miles east of Sierra City on Highway 49.
