Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club

On Monday evening, July 9, the Whitehawk Ranch Ladies Golf Club had a Mexican-themed cocktail “Pairings Party” for the Member-Member Tournament to be held Tuesday, July 10. Member Marcia Zeigler graciously hosted this fun event on her beautiful deck overlooking the golf course — thank you, Marcia!

The teams were drawn randomly, pairing a lower and higher handicap player for Tuesday’s tourney. Virginia Luhring did a wonderful job as master of ceremonies! We had 22 participants with each team recording their best gross and best net score on each hole.

The winners were as follows: first gross, Laurie McKenzie and Pam Cummings; first net, Sharon Russell and Jean Haaf. Second gross, Patty McNamara and Mary Ann Crowe; second net, Denise Stein and Patsy Purvis. Third gross, Cassie McNamara and Jody Arens; third net, Chris Hyatt and Ginny Kylberg. The lively event was topped off with a wonderful Mexican feast prepared by Shirley and her capable staff. (Marcie, the enchiladas were “out of this world!”) Thanks also go to head pro Tad McCormick and his right-hand man, assistant pro Jason Butler, for running the event.

Happy golfing …

Mt. Huff Thursday Night Scramble

Mt. Huff had another outstanding turnout for its Thursday Night Scramble. They fielded nine teams for a full house and there was just enough breeze to cool things off and heat up the golf.

Ruth and Bill McRoberts and Greg Stevens came in first at 5 under; Wes Morgan, Dave Boyes, Bob McIlroy and Loren Lindner came in second with 4 under. After a chip-off the team of Joltin Joe Ferguson, Dave Sims and Jerry and Barbara Quam came in third with 3 under.

Tree Topper Dave Sims came closest to the pin, and Auston “I finally hit a straight one” Linford had the longest drive.

Summer is almost half over and if you haven’t made the scramble it is about time. Check-in is 4:30 and tee-off is at 5. We would love to have you. Come alone or bring a group of friends; you will have a great time. Call 284-6300 for information about golf, lunch and RV spots. Hope to see you there.
