75 YEARS AGO.............1938

    Plumas County Clerk John Donnenwirth will assist voters who cannot leave their jobs during courthouse office hours to register by taking care of them at his Quincy home from six o'clock p.m. until eight o'clock p.m. on weeknights.

    Plumas County currently has 3935 registered voters to date: 2551 Democrats, 1248 Republicans, 11 Socialists, 3 Townsend, 118 declined to state and 4 miscellaneous.

75 YEARS AGO..........1938

    The Hotel Quincy Grill, closed since January for extensive remodeling, will reopen this evening. An entirely new kitchen has been installed in the brick house formerly used for storage. This was connected by a new room to the main hotel building. A new cold room in the basement will be kept at temperatures of zero degrees allowing the restaurant to serve oysters in the middle of summer.

    The Feather River Jubilee is underway to celebrate the Fourth of July. The fun-filled weekend will include a carnival on Bradley Street in Quincy near Quincy Drug Store, a Jubilee Ball Saturday night, fireworks, a parade, a band concert, talent show and baseball games.

    A new weekly column will begin this week in this issue of this newspaper, the Plumas National-Bulletin. The Hot Spot by Alice Vaughan will feature clever homemaking hints for housewives.

    The new section of the Almanor Forest Highway from Paxton to Crescent Mills and the grade separation structure at the south entrance to Greenville on the same route will be completed by the end of the year. The narrow bridge across from Wolf Creek will then be abandoned upon completion.

An explosion of a gasoline engine set fire to and destroyed the tank house from which Vinton homes draw their water supply Sunday afternoon.

Main Street Quincy will be the route of the Feather River Highway through Quincy when the complete artery is finally competed from Keddie to the county seat.
