The question of the possible incorporation of Quincy was put to 30 random residents this week by the Feather River Bulletin’s inquiring reporter drawing 17 affirmatives, 4 opposed, 5 undecided and 4 indifferent. The topic was raised in observance of the possible incorporation plans posed by the Quincy Chamber of Commerce for the past two years.

Unused for many years past, the Beckwourth Church was reopened last Sunday. The church building is credited with having unusually fine acoustics.

Funeral services were held in Crescent Mills for pioneer Plumas County resident Nicholas Stampfli, 89, who is believed to have resided in Plumas County longer than any other person. A native of Switzerland, he settled in Meadow Valley in 1850, moving to Indian Valley in 1857 and had a ranch near Crescent Mills since 1863. He is survived by four sons and seven daughters.

The Plumas County Grand Jury will be asked to sift through evidence of a possible conspiracy plot by Plumas County Sheriff Deputy Fred Shumate with three convicted burglars. The investigation was ordered by Plumas County Superior Court Judge J.O. Moncur this week. According to a report, Shumate allegedly discussed the burglary plans with them of the G.R. Clark Store in Taylorsville prior to the December 4, 1936 crime.
