75 YEARS AGO........1936

Advertisement: Famous mountain grown blackberries from Charles Uslenghi in Virgilia, we are picking them now. Order them early. $1.50 a crate, 20 baskets to a crate.

Fifty prizes will be given away at the Nuchester Pavilion at the Chester Chamber of Commerce dance for the benefit of its advertising fund. Admission to the dance is $1.00. Proceeds will be used to advertise the Chester recreational area.

75 YEARS AGO..........1936

The Lake Almanor Inn, store and building was destroyed by fire at midnight Sat. The main building which houses the dining room and hotel was saved. The store carried a full stock at the time of the fire. Loss was estimated at more than $10,000. A bucket brigade system extinguished the blaze that spread from the store.

Joy Belle Jackson assumed the duties of Plumas County Librarian this week succeeding Mrs. J. Watson, who resigned. Miss Jackson and her mother have taken residence at the Lasswell House on Jackson Street in Quincy.

75 YEARS AGO............1936

Two afternoon performances and two evening performances of the motion picture Ah, Wilderness! starring Lionel Barrymore will signal the grand opening of Quincy's new motion picture house named the Town Hall Saturday. The 30-foot neon sign was installed earlier in the week.

The highest temperature of 1936 was reached over the weekend when many parts of Plumas County recorded a temperature of 102 degrees.
