Controversial comments attributed to a U.S. Forest Service attorney were indeed made, according to a man who was in the room.

Bill Wickman, a former longtime Forest Service employee, told the Quincy Library Group that attorney James Rosen said he didn’t care about the plight of logger Randy Pew or Plumas County.

Public hearing Wednesday on future of Indian Valley schools

Efforts to recall Glenn Harris, superintendent of the Plumas County Office of Education, are proceeding. Plumas County Clerk-Recorder Kathy Williams certified the petition to recall Harris Monday, March 26, so proponents can begin collecting signatures.

“The hope is that we can actually get something on the ground before the end of the year. We’ll be looking for the lowest (amount to pay) and the easiest thing to do just so we get something started. We know it’s been a long time and people have been wondering. We feel we had good reasons for not being here and doing something, not the least of which is the economy,” David Wade of Woodbridge at Portola told a special joint assembly of the city’s Planning Commission and City Council March 20.

Rush Creek, not far as the crow flies from Indian Valley, was the scene Thursday, March 22, of another in a series of lion killings.

This makes the seventh lion killed in Plumas County since the long stretch of dry weather turned in late January.
