    Question: If a person in California found himself in an emergency survival situation, and had to take California wildlife in an otherwise illegal manner in order to survive, do the various California Department of Fish and Wildlife or other laws specifically describe an exemption for such exigent circumstances?

Chester girls lose final game of season

“Well, we didn’t really play that well the first half,” said Chester girls’ basketball coach John Potter on the Lady Volcanoes’ final game of the season. “I was proud how the girls ended the second half, though. They really fought back.”

Chester made it into the Division VI playoffs seeded 12th with a 4-20 overall record. On Feb. 26, the Lady Volcanoes took on the No. 5 seed, Maxwell, and lost 60-28 due to an abysmal first half.

Tigers’ season ends with loss to Modoc

Portola, the No. 11 seed in the Division V basketball playoffs, traveled to sixth-seeded Modoc last Wednesday to compete in the first round of playoffs. The Tigers started strong, but struggled defensively in the second quarter to lose 77-60.

The loss meant the end of the road for Portola, and brought its record to a final 9-18 for the season. In league play, the Tigers finished 3-7.
