The 15th annual Indian Valley Century brought a couple hundred cyclists to Greenville last Saturday, May 26. Participants appreciated the scenic roads with few vehicles, and they enjoyed a good catered lunch at the Genesee Store.
 

Tour de Manure offers good times for a good cause

The annual Tour de Manure Metric Century in Sierra Valley spins into its fourth year Saturday, June 16. The tour welcomes all people looking for a bit of fun on a Saturday afternoon — not just cyclists, but also anyone who yearns for a delicious hot lunch, some foot-stomping tunes, and a browse along Sierraville’s commercial row — the Sierra Valley Feed Store and the Red Pony. This year, the finish line party will be bigger than ever.

This past week I was able to take my kayak to one of our many small lakes for a morning of fishing.

Before headed out, I checked the Fish and Game web site to see if this lake was on the list of lakes still being stocked by DF&G.  It turns out it is not.

FRC men's rodeo team captures region

The Feather River College men’s rodeo team once again captured first place overall in the West Coast Region this season, winning by a large margin over the other six schools.

Feather River finished with 6,032 total points in the men’s division. Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and University of Nevada Las Vegas finished a distant second and third with 4,123 points and 4,106 points, respectively.

Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club

The winning scores were very close last week. The Graeagle Meadows Women’s Golf Club played a team “Two Best Balls” game. The first place winners with a score of 125 were Cheryl Brennan, Holly Anderson, Dink Rife and Judy Porep-Lullo. With a score of 126 the second place team was comprised of Kathy Sipel, Alaine Flynn, Diane Trainor and Gail Arterburn. Jacquie McMaster, Barbara Crist, Dee Walker and Jay Fisher took third place with a score of 127.

Jacquie McMaster, Barbara Crist, Jay Fisher, Debbie Peterson, Wanda Wideriksen, Judy Porep-Lullo and Susie Wiese had chip-ins.
