  Victory never tasted so sweet.

  The Greenville Indians went up against the Westwood Lumberjacks in a doubleheader March 26 and racked up runs in both games to win 16-1 and 11-1. The wins brought Greenville’s record up to 4-2 overall.

  The victories came with a sigh of relief for the Indians, as their record against Westwood has not always been so hot. Westwood had won the last nine games.

  “We’re making good progress, but we still have a long way to go,” said Greenville coach Mike Chelotti. “This last series, though, we played well in every facet. Our hitting and pitching were both really solid, and it felt good to get a win.”

  Would it rain? Would it be sunny? It was a little bit of both! And a good crowd showed up and toughed out the showers for a very successful Wednesday Morning Scramble at Mt. Huff Golf Course on March 27.

  In first place was the team of Don McConnell, Dick Grace, and Mike Ingle.

  A tie for second place happened between the team of David Smuts, Loren Lindner and Bill McRoberts and the team of Ron Christensen, Margie Joseph and Darel Joseph.

  Closest to the pin was won by David Smuts while the chip-in was aced by Dick Grace.

Extra ammo

  Question: I wonder if you can settle a bet for me and my friends. They told me when hunting for turkeys, it is illegal to also carry shotgun slug ammunition. I disagree because what if someone wants to carry slugs in case they get the chance that a pig might run by? Please set us straight.

  The Feather River College softball team went on the road last weekend for two doubleheaders. On Friday, March 22, the Eagles faced off against Lassen, winning the first game 7-6 and the second game 9-8. The following day Feather River lost both games to Shasta College 6-5 after being up the majority of the game. The outcomes put FRC at 7-3 in conference.
