So what good is a fishing report?

So what good is the information in this or any other fishing report?

A good friend of mine raised this question after spending a few days fishing at Lake Almanor.

He hadn't done all that well. He even went so far as to suggest that this report is a "Chamber of Commerce fishing report." Ouch!

Let me put that accusation into perspective.

Lights at night to monitor wildlife behavior and movement?

Q: Is it legal to use lights to monitor wildlife if you do not have any guns in your possession? Watching wildlife at night is a very interesting way to educate kids to be on the lookout for and gain an interest in wildlife. I’ve always wondered if using lights to do this would be considered harassment somehow and not be allowed?

Portola Tigers play for title

The Portola High School baseball team defeated top-seeded Hamilton 2-1 in the Division IV semifinal playoff game May 19 to advance to the Northern Section championship last Saturday.

The title match was held at Butte College last Saturday, when the fourth-seeded Portola Tigers took on the second-seeded East Nicolaus Spartans. East Nicolaus edged Portola 3-2 for the championship.

Hospice to host “Good Grief” golf tournament

Sierra Hospice will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2011 and in recognition of this outstanding accomplishment they will be sponsoring a “Good Grief” golf tournament Saturday, June 4, at the Bailey Creek Golf Course, at Lake Almanor.

Registration is at 8 a.m. and play begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
