Crippled birds
Question: I was informed that a downed crippled bird that was not recovered, even though a true effort was made to find the downed bird, still counts toward your bag limit. Where is this stated in the regulations?

Portola High School hosted its annual Tiger Classic basketball tournament last weekend. Teams from Modoc, Loyalton and Quincy all showed up to compete.
The teams were extremely well-matched, which made for exciting basketball for the crowds in attendance. Families filled the stands to watch their sons and daughters play.
“It was a great tournament,” said Portola’s coach, Tim Brubaker. “The whole tournament was very hotly contested.”
Portola played three very close games. On Dec. 6 Portola lost to Modoc 56-53. The next day the Tigers outscored Loyalton by one point to win the game 54-53. Portola faced Quincy on the final day of the tournament. Quincy won 57-54.

The Junior Trap Shooting Team in Quincy received an early Christmas present this year: a new shotgun.
The shooting range off of Snake Lake Road was broken into Oct. 21 and four Remington 870s used for the team were stolen. Though the thieves have yet to be caught, the team members can sleep a little better at night knowing they live in a caring community.
Once news of the break-in was reported, several individuals and local merchants came forth and made donations to replace the stolen guns. The Quincy Sport Shooting Association used the funds to buy the new replacement.

Russ Bowring retrieves his ball from the cup after making his first hole-in-one at the Wolf Run Golf Course in Reno on Dec. 6. Bowring made the hole-in-one on a 145-yard par-3 hole with a 7-iron. Bowring, a member of the Plumas Pines Men’s Golf Club, celebrated his victory with drinks at the Wolf Run bar. The celebration left Bowring a happy yet little bit poorer golfer. Bowring is a former fighter pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps and annually portrays Uncle Sam in the Fourth of July parade in Graeagle. Photo by Chuck Gielow
