Not so fast...Let School Superintendent do his job

After reading the latest editorial, “The handwriting is on the wall — but it’s not too late to act,” I want to take the opportunity to comment as well as provide some recent past history that continues to carry on today. I was a school board member from 1990 through 1997.

Some commencement season words of wisdom

Editorial-commence all
5/26/10

Commencement season is again upon us. Local ceremonies began last Friday with Feather River College. Plumas and Westwood charter schools hold their ceremonies later this week, and public high schools will hold theirs Friday, June 11.
Here we offer excerpts from highly regarded commencement speeches of the last few years.
To our graduates, congratulations and good luck.

“Forget that this task of planet-saving is not possible in the time required. Don’t be put off by people who know what is not possible. Do what needs to be done, and check to see if it was impossible only after you are done.”

The handwriting is on the wall but it’s not too late to act

We have reported week after week on the turmoil and controversy surrounding the dissatisfaction of parents, students and teachers in Greenville.

These parents, teachers and students have been to school district board meetings month after month, expressing their dissatisfaction and asking to be included in discussions, asking for the matter to be placed on the board’s agenda.

So much to do; so little time

The weather in Plumas County may have been spotty lately, but our cultural offerings have been sunny and bright. Every once in awhile, I am amazed anew at what all we can pull off when we want to. Over the last month, I have attended so many varied events that I have almost lost track. Bear with me as I recount a few.
