Business Scene for the week of 3/22/17

WIN A KINDLE FIRE OR ECHO DOT

Pharmacist Karen Schad invites you to come see her downtown store and meet her team at the grand opening of Quincy Pharmacy this Friday, March 24, from noon to 4 p.m. In addition to refreshments and snacks, visitors will also receive a shopping tote bag (while supplies last). While there, be sure to enter the drawing for a chance to win a Kindle Fire tablet computer or an Echo Dot — that’s that hands-free voice-controlled device that uses “Alexia” to play music or complete other tasks that you’ve undoubtedly seen advertised on television. Her ad in this week’s paper also features a coupon good for $5 off any purchases of over-the-counter products of $10 or more.

INTRODUCING THE TwoDay CAFÉ

With a limited number of places to eat out on Sundays and Mondays in the Quincy area, Dave and Helen (although she’ll always be “Nancy” to me) saw the need and have decided to fill it! The owners of the Eastside Public House in East Quincy are introducing the TwoDay Café featuring a limited menu — at first, anyway — with daily specials for breakfast and lunch on Monday and Tuesday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Since the cocktail lounge will also be open, patrons must be at least 21, but Helen said you can also order your food to go. Age problem solved!

MAKING ROOM FOR NEW ARRIVALS

With new arrivals daily at Lassen Gift Company, Sharon Henry has to make room in her store for the new merchandise so she is having an unbelievable sale — 50 percent off everything — until March 31. How exciting is this, the storewide sale includes everything, from kitchen items, home décor, educational toys, clothing and accessories, jewelry and more because, once again, she needs to make room for new arrivals! As an added bonus, with every purchase of $20 or more, customers get to “Spin the Wheel” for additional prizes or future discounts. Sharon added that this is her very special way of thanking the community and her customers for their support over the 62 years this Chester store has been in business. And thank you, Sharon!

SPECIAL ON GOLF MEMBERSHIPS

With spring just around the corner, the multi-award winning Plumas Pines Golf Resort is offering a slew of new membership opportunities for the upcoming season. General Manager Brandon Bowling has created a number of golf packages tailored to both singles and families for unlimited play and for annual memberships that include discounts in the golf shop and throughout the season at Longboards Bar and Grill. He’s also offering very special pricing on 5-play and 10-play cards as well. For complete details on these deals, call Brandon at 836-1420.

IT’S A CHICK FEST IN WESTWOOD!

On Saturday, March 25, it’s the third annual Chick Fest at Lassen True Value Hardware in Westwood. Storeowner Alex DeMartimprey invites you to bring the kids to see all the baby chicks, ducks and turkeys available for purchase. The necessary accessories and supplies will also be on sale that day, along with other basic gardening supplies.

LOCAL FARMER PUBLISHES BOOK

Gary Romano, owner of Sierra Valley Farms, a local certified farmers market located on A-13 just south of Highway 70 near Beckwourth, has just published a new book called “July & Winter, Growing Food in the Sierra.” Gary will be teaching a organic gardening class tailored for this region at Sierra College in Truckee beginning April 6. More information can be found on Sierra College’s website.
