Heaviest snow tonight for Quincy/Portola

Sheriff Greg Hagwood announced that following a teleconference with the National Weather Service in Reno, it’s forecast that the heaviest amount of snow for Quincy and Portola will begin around 8 p.m. this evening and taper off around 2 a.m. The snow level will drop rapidly to about 3,400 feet during this time period. Toward the end of the storm, the level will drop to about 3,000 feet. Total snow accumulations during this time period are estimated at 10 to 14 inches. After this band moves through, there will be sporadic light snow and rain through Saturday. The sheriff advises everyone to drive with caution.

Feather River College announced that there will be no evening classes tonight. The regular schedule is planned for tomorrow, but officials will assess the weather conditions and make a final decision prior to 7 a.m. Friday.
