These are a few of the stories you will find in this week's printed newspaper:
  • Recall moving forward: Residents upset with the Indian Valley Community Services District’s board gathered enough signatures to force a recall election for three of the directors.
  • Sticker shock: Developers of the stalled Feather River Inn project say they are stunned by the Graeagle Fire Protection District’s demand for an up-front $250,000 annexation fee.
  • Scam revealed: A Quincy man was almost certain an offer to earn cash as a secret shopper was a scam... But he decided to play along.

It’s official — Mike Green has accepted the position of general manager for East Quincy Services District.

The decision to hire Green was made at a special board meeting Aug. 5. It was announced after the board reconvened from a closed session in which the full board interviewed two candidates.

The other candidate was from outside the county.

Chairman Ernie Eaton said the board discussed the merits of the two candidates for nearly an hour before choosing Green.

Green currently holds the position of lead mechanic for Quincy Community Services District. Larry Sullivan, general manager for QCSD, said Green’s shoes will be hard to fill.

Sullivan said Green holds water and wastewater licenses, and has electrical experience, mechanical knowledge and welding skills.

“It will be pretty hard to find somebody with all those skills,” Sullivan said. However, Sullivan said, “I think it’s going to be good for the community.”

Green, contacted Aug. 6, said, “I’m looking forward to starting work. I’m excited to see what we can do to make the district run better.”

Eaton said the board expects Green to assume his duties in early September.

Wow! These previous comments are infantile, absurd and reflect poorly upon the ignoramuses making them . I worked with Mike at QCSD for 6 years, and he exhibited a good work ethic, and was honest and reliable, traits which I am sure he will continuew with at EQSD, good luck Mike.
