These are the stories you will find in this week's newspaper:
  • Poor report: For the second time in as many months, an investigation found a number of problems at the Plumas County Mental Health department.
  • Budget frustration: Tempers flared during last week’s Board of Supervisors meeting as board members discussed the 2014-15 budget.
  • School bus inflation: Effective Jan. 31, 2015, Plumas Unified School District bus fees will increase by 10 percent.

Plumas Schools will start on time Wednesday

12/16/09
6:00 a.m.

Feather Publishing just received word from the bus barn at the Plumas Unified School District that all schools including Quincy, Greenville, Chester and Portola will start on time this morning.

Buses in Chester and some in the Portola area will be chained up and running at the maximum of 35 MPH allowed on the highways under chain restrictions. Students in those areas may notice small delays.

As of 6:00 a.m. only the Chester area was under R1 Chain restrictions where chains are required on all commercial vehicles (trucks or buses). All other vehicles (cars, pick-ups, vans, etc.) must have either snow tread tires or chains on the drive axle.

Current chain controls for Plumas County can be viewed here.
