Posch to pay $52,000 in restitution

Plumas County Superior Court Judge Ira Kaufman recently added $52,000 in restitution to High Desert State Prison Sergeant Todd Posch's sentence.

The funds will be used to compensate the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitations for providing security for Posch's family while he alleged a gang was targeting him.

Posch was originally sentenced to 30 days of jail time, 300 hours of community service and three years of formal probation after pleading no contest in April to two counts of filing a false police report.

The former prison employee fabricated two incidents where he reported being assaulted by "Mexican gang members."

Kaufman ordered more than $1,000 in restitution to William Harrison and his family at the original sentencing in July.

Harrison was another prison guard who Posch claimed was the "actual target" of his fabricated attacks, which caused Harrison and his family months of anxiety looking over their shoulders for would-be assailants.
