These are a few of the stories you will find in this week's printed newspaper:

  • Lucky dog: After eight harrowing days lost in the Plumas National Forest, a missing Shetland sheepdog was found. He was hungry, tired, cold, scratched, limping on bloody paws and missing some fur. But his tail was wagging.
  • On trial: The trial for a Quincy man accused of inflicting fatal injuries on a toddler in 2013 is scheduled to begin March 12.
  • Moving on: Just days after Plumas District Hospital announced that it couldn’t take over Quincy Nursing & Rehabilitation, several residents of the facility have found new homes.

Holiday Words & Music all around Plumas

Feather Publishing
12/8/2010

Take a respite from all the holiday hubbub and get into the real spirit of the season by joining with friends and neighbors at any of Plumas Arts’ Words & Music holiday celebrations in the coming weeks.

Each Words & Music venue has a different feel and flair, so start with one and make it a goal to try them all, either this month or in the coming year.

In the tradition of the ongoing Words & Music program, a variety of spoken word and musical artists will take the stage in an extended sort of “open stage” performance, which has come to be called the holiday locals all-stars lineup.

Starting it off is the Quincy Holiday Words & Music, Thursday, Dec. 9, at Morning Thunder Café.

Chester’s Words & Music is Thursday, Dec. 16, at The Coffee Station.

Portola Words & Music follows right behind Friday, Dec. 17, at “The Feather” Community Arts Center.

As time allows, aspiring poets, musicians, storytellers or actors wishing to perform are encouraged to sign up at the door before 7:30 p.m.

Programs start between 7 and 7:20 p.m. Admission is still only $3. No-host beverages and goodies are available at all the venues.

In Words & Music, the audience and the artist share equally important roles. The artists bring their creative endeavors, hearts ands souls. The audience provides compassionate, caring attention. Both are essential.

Words & Music always reminds us all of why we treasure living in Plumas County. The holiday shows really display what wonderful communities we live in.

Words & Music is an acoustic music and spoken word program which has been sponsored by Plumas Arts since 1989. For information, contact us at 283-3402 or info@plumasarts.org.
