  • Luck dog: After eight harrowing days lost in the Plumas National Forest, a missing Shetland sheepdog was found. He was hungry, tired, cold, scratched, limping on bloody paws and missing some fir. But his tail was wagging.
  • On trial: The trial for a Quincy man accused of inflicting fatal injuries on a toddler in 2013 is scheduled to begin March 12.
  • Moving on: Just days after Plumas District Hospital announced that it couldn’t take over Quincy Nursing & Rehabilitation, several residents of the facility have found new homes.

Two plead not guilty in murder of police officer

During a Monday, Jan. 10 arraignment, Joanna McElrath (Beckett) and Robin Glen James pleaded not guilty to charges of premeditated murder and conspiracy.

McElrath, 36, and James, 46, of Susanville, were arrested Thursday, Jan. 6 for the death of Susanville Police Officer Robert McElrath, 37, whose body was found the morning of Sunday, Jan. 2 near the railroad trestle at Devil’s Corral.

A preliminary hearing setting conference was set for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2 in Lassen Superior Court.  They are still being held in the Lassen County Jail without bail.
