These are a few of the stories you will find in this week's printed newspaper:
  • Ebola preparedness: Could a deadly virus with its roots in West Africa find its way to Plumas County? The county’s three hospitals are preparing, just in case.
  • Candidates speak: With elections just days away, candidates for local public offices took part in forums and submitted answers to questions from the newspaper.
  • Remembering Grace: The family of an FRC student who died earlier this month said they were overwhelmed by the community’s support after the college held a vigil to remember their daughter.

Traffic control update for Highway 70 near Keddie

Feather Publishing
10/14/2011 update

PG&E spokesman Paul Moreno with an update for the power pole replacement at the Spanish Creek Bridge, "PG&E crews have made very good progress and we expect to complete repairs to this line by about 9 p.m. Thursday Oct. 13, and restore power to the 20 customers impacted.  We were able to do this work by installing only two new poles.  PG&E crews numbering more than a dozen workers installed the new poles and wires."

This should eliminate the need for controlled traffic at the construction site.

Original post 10/12/2011

Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 12 through Saturday, Oct. 15 motorists are advised to anticipate 30 to 60 minute delays on State Route 70 near Keddie, between Quincy and the Greenville “Y.”

Cal Trans, PG&E, and CC Meyers Construction will be excavating a rain-soaked embankment just east of the Spanish Creek Bridge.
