These are a few of the stories you will find in this week's printed newspaper:

  • Luck dog: After eight harrowing days lost in the Plumas National Forest, a missing Shetland sheepdog was found. He was hungry, tired, cold, scratched, limping on bloody paws and missing some fir. But his tail was wagging.
  • On trial: The trial for a Quincy man accused of inflicting fatal injuries on a toddler in 2013 is scheduled to begin March 12.
  • Moving on: Just days after Plumas District Hospital announced that it couldn’t take over Quincy Nursing & Rehabilitation, several residents of the facility have found new homes.

Portola schools - Two hour delayed start Friday

All other schools open and on schedule for Friday
11/04/2011 - 6:30 a.m.

The bus barn at Plumas Unified School District called to inform Feather Publishing that all PUSD schools in the Portola area will have a two hour delayed start Friday, Nov. 04, 2011 due to chain requirements. The Portola area received about a foot of new snow overnight. All other schools in Plumas County are open and starting on time, however buses in many areas are running chains as well and could be late to bus stops.

Temperatures in some areas of Plumas County will reach into the teens this tonight, so watch for ice on the roadways. Precautions for freezing pipes should be taken as well.
