Portola City Clerk Leslie Tigan certified the petition to recall Mayor Dan Wilson last Tuesday.

The petition was received by the city Oct. 13 with a raw count of 364 signatures from proponent Jeanne Rowden-Dansby; 269 signatures from voters registered as living in Portola are required to initiate a special recall election.

Tigan verified 309 signatures and found 51 not meeting requirements. She will bring her certificate of sufficiency before the City Council at the next regular meeting Dec. 14.

At that time, the council will be asked to set the date and order an election to determine whether or not Wilson shall be recalled.

The council will also be asked to authorize a mail-in election and to set the dates of the nomination period for candidates who wish to appear on the ballot for election to fill the vacancy if Wilson is recalled.
