  • New state: Proponents of the state of Jefferson pushed the Plumas County Board of Supervisors to sign a declaration of support Jan. 20, but they didn’t get it.
  • Nursing home to close: Healthcare leaders learned that the skilled nursing hospital in Quincy is slated for closure, which would result in the relocation of more than three dozen patients and the loss of 60 jobs.
  • Program sacked: Judge Ira Kaufman is no longer sentencing people to drug court. He said he was ending the program because clients weren’t being served.

First school closure committee to meet in Greenville

The first meeting of the Indian Valley School Closure and Consolidation Committee, or 7-11 Committee, will be held Tuesday, Jan. 10, at 4:30 p.m. in the Greenville High School library.

Committee members are Misty Banchio, Mike Chelotti, Anna Jeffrey, Anna Lawson, Guy McNett, Jim Norman, Kest Porter, Lisa Smith, Veronica Tilton, Centella Tucker and Sue Weber.

Agenda items include sharing information about committee organization and review of Plumas Unified School District facilities, staff, transportation, attendance, enrollment, maintenance, utilities and the Brown Act.
