EQSD agrees to join Quincy in effort to build new treatment plant

East Quincy said it wants to join Quincy in a quest to build a new wastewater treatment plant for the American Valley.

By a unanimous vote, the East Quincy Services District’s board of directors approved taking the first step in that process.

At its Tuesday, March 13 meeting, the EQSD board said it would split the cost of a grant application with Quincy.

The two districts have agreed to share the $500 cost of the application, which could ultimately lead to $100,000 in government funding by the fall of 2013. That money would be used to pay for a comprehensive treatment plant feasibility study.

Quincy’s board unanimously approved the collaborated application step a week earlier.
