In-store specials, free hot dogs and drawings for bags of feed are all part of Pet Country Feed-N-Tack’s customer appreciation day celebration this Saturday, May 3, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Owner Michelle Low has also arranged for some educational presentations that include acupressure for horses at 11:30 a.m.; a rep from Nutrina discussing poultry at 1 p.m.; small animal nutrition at 2 p.m.; and Willo Vieira talking about small ruminants at 3 p.m. Pet Country is on Highway 70 in Quincy next to Feather River Fitness.

longboards bar & grill opens

On Thursday, May 1, Longboards Bar & Grill at Plumas Pines Golf Resort in Graeagle reopens for the season.Executive Chef Sean Conry offers a casual bistro fare menu for serving in the bar and patio daily from noon until closing. A contemporary dinner menu is offered in the dining room starting at 6 p.m.Sean only uses the freshest ingredients — many he sources from the farmers and ranchers in our region — and fresh ocean fish flown in from Hawaii.Our belated congratulations are due to the very talented Brent Bailey, who late last season earned the title of sous chef.


Melissa McCoy, owner of Every Bloomin’ Thing in Susanville and Chester, is ready to open her Chester location this Saturday, May 10. You will find the nursery on Main Street in Chester next to the Bidwell House.


Garn Pringle, general operations manager at the Lake Almanor Fitness Center in Chester, wants his members to know they are now open daily from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. so members have an opportunity to get their workouts in at their convenience. Other exciting changes include the addition of some new equipment some new exercise classes.

Karen has been a licensed agent since 1991 and has 17 years of experience in the real estate mortgage industry and eight years selling homes.

Pete has been in the real estate business since 1967, with 14 years of experience as a mortgage broker and 27 years as an FHA-certified real estate appraiser.

The Lake Almanor office also received special recognition from its parent company, Keller Williams Real Estate, for having the most new listings in March and for the most new listings (by agent Joe Gilmour) in January in the Almanor region.

Main Street Salon owner Kristy Brown welcomes certified massage therapist Kanda Kanjandee to her Taylorsville salon. Kanda is originally from Thailand and recently moved here. She is a certified massage practitioner specializing in Thai massage therapy. During May, Kanda is offering salon customers a free introductory 10-minute massage that addresses back and hip pains, and sore muscles.
