Local residents who have any information regarding the whereabouts of Patrick McCarthy, 45, of Doyle, are asked to call the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office.
McCarthy’s family has filed a missing person’s report with the Lassen County Sheriff’s Office. He is described as a Caucasian male, 6’2” tall, weighing 215 pounds. He has brown, short hair and hazel eyes. He was last seen driving a maroon 2004 extended cab Ford Ranger with California license plate number 82362B1.
Pacific Gas & Electric Co. has decided to suspend further timber harvesting in Humbug Valley, pending a land transfer recommendation from the Stewardship Council.
In 2004, the Stewardship Council was formed as part of the utility company’s bankruptcy settlement agreement. The agreement allows for the council to make recommendations for title transfer of more than 140,000 acres of PG&E-owned land.

On Thursday, May 23, 60 Plumas Charter School students in grades kindergarten through seventh participated in the school’s annual Living History Day. The theme of the day was California history and a focus on what life was like for the prospectors and early settlers of California.
Plumas District Hospital physicians have treated several local individuals after learning that berries they had eaten were part of a recall. The berries may have been contaminated with hepatitis A.
The Centers for Disease Control reports that an outbreak of hepatitis A illnesses is linked to individuals who have consumed a contaminated frozen berry blend sold at Costco warehouse stores under the name Townsend Farms Organic Antioxidant Blend, 3-pound bag, UPC 0 78414 404448.
