Customer Appreciation Day
Come and enjoy a great barbecued lunch during Chester NAPA Auto Parts’ Customer Appreciation Day on Thursday, June 26, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Manager Bill Mosby said there will some big savings on tools, filters and other items at the store as well. It is located on Main Street next door to Subway.

Animal Clinic Expands Service
Martin Schafer, DVM, continues to expand his Beckwourth small animal clinic, Plumas Veterinary Service, enabling employees to see their furry patients five days a week. Last year, Dr. Amanda Coats brought her expertise to the medicine and surgery center. Most recently, Corrinne Lorentzen, a licensed veterinary technician, has joined the other technicians already on the team: John Stanton, Stephanie Cox and Brandon Swann. Rounding out the staff are the receptionists, Julie Arietta and Lori Taylor.

riding for a reason
The Horse Plus Humane Society is holding a fundraiser in memory of former DMV manager Kim Blanchard. It will be at New England Ranch on Quincy Junction Road in Quincy on Sunday, June 8. Their goal is to raise money to help horses in need. Signups start at 9 a.m.; the first ride gets underway at 10 a.m. For more information call Lisa Labbe at 283-9770.

chamber mixer, open house
Sierra Park Homes and the Eastern Plumas and Quincy chambers of commerce are having a mixer and open house Friday, May 30, at 5 p.m. at one of the newest homes in Sierra Park’s subdivision just off of Lee Road at 165 Pony Court in Quincy. Besides enjoying the refreshments and conviviality, you’ll have a chance to tour this very special solar electric and Energy Star certified show home. Also, representatives from Plumas-Sierra Telecommunications will be there to make the formal announcement that this development is the first subdivision in the county to make the new high-speed fiber optic Internet service available to its homeowners. There will also be a fundraiser (drawing for a prize) for Relay for Life.

It’s down to the last minute, but you can still take advantage of the eighth annual Community Supper Benefit Take-Out Luncheon tomorrow, Thursday, May 22. Anticipating some last-minute calls, Caron Chance of Back Door Catering ordered extra food for the lunches she is preparing and said she is eager to accommodate last-minute orders — just call 283-1740. So ask around your place of work, gather up an order and make the call; it’s a really good cause!
