Gardner appears before grand jury

Plumas County Sheriff Len Gardner appeared before the grand jury Friday, Jan. 4. Gardner was observed at about 1:30 p.m. walking into the grand jury room, which is located on the fourth floor of the courthouse in Quincy. In the minutes before the sheriff entered the room, members of the grand jury were observed entering the grand jury room. Gardner was inside the grand jury room for nearly two hours.
It is not known for certain why Gardner appeared before the grand jury, or whether he was ordered to appear or appeared voluntarily. Gardner said he cannot discuss his appearance before the grand jury. Gardner said he was admonished by the grand jury not to discuss the matter.
