Three amphibians and their habitat proposed for federal protection

  The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing to list the Sierra Nevada yellow-legged frog and the northern distinct population segment of the mountain yellow-legged frog as endangered and the Yosemite toad as threatened under the Endangered Species Act.

 

QLG asks Park Service to transfer $10 million to USFS

  Should the National Park Service compensate the U.S. Forest Service for damages caused by the Reading Fire last summer?

  The Quincy Library Group members think so and they unanimously passed a resolution to ask the Park Service to transfer $10 million to the Forest Service.

  

11th annual jazz concert a success

  Feet tapped, heads bobbed and fingers snapped in time to the music performed April 22 at the 11th annual Plumas Jazz Night in Quincy.

  The event, held at the Town Hall Theatre, was a collaborative effort between Quincy, Greenville and Chester high school jazz bands and the Chester jazz choir, which led off the night’s entertainment.

  Chester High School wrestler Rocklin Loranger signed his national letter of intent with Northern State University’s Division II wrestling program April 19.

  Division II is an intermediate-level division of competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association — the school’s current year overall record is 5-11.

  Under wrestling coach Pat Timm’s instruction, Loranger will begin his college career in the 2013-14 season in the middle weight class. He currently weighs in at 141 pounds.
