  This year’s county fair is right on track, reported fair manager John Steffanic at the regular board meeting April 24.

  He presented a draft exhibit guide and event schedule to board members and reviewed the highlights of the “Fun, Family, Friends”-themed fair, scheduled for Aug. 14 – 18.

  While the well-known refrain “Who’s been sleeping in my bed?” is a familiar line from the popular children’s storybook “Goldilocks and the Three Bears,” for some Lake Almanor West residents this story is no fairy tale.

  Since the end of March, a small brown bear cub, approximately 2 years of age and 150 pounds, has been making a bit of its own history in the Lake Almanor housing development. Residents Dick Fording and Lori and Hal Sinclair have tales of their own to tell.

  From jewelry to chainsaws — the Plumas County Sheriff’s Department regularly sells an array of items on propertyroom.com.

  When unclaimed evidence and asset forfeiture property overwhelm the department’s small storage room, Holly Taylor calls propertyroom.com for pickup.

  The 3,600 children in Plumas County might not know it yet, but 2013 is now officially “The Year of the Child.”

  The Board of Supervisors passed the resolution during its April 16 meeting at the request of Ellen Vieira, the executive director of First 5 Plumas.

  The Feather River College Art Department is proud to host the eighth annual Student Art Exhibit. A reception for the artists, a free public event, is set for 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, April 26, at Pangaea Café and Pub, 461 W. Main St. in Quincy. All are encouraged to meet the artists, admire the artwork and enjoy appetizers. Some works are for sale by the artists.
