75 YEARS AGO............1937
Energetic means of destroying carp in Lake Almanor, which threaten to destroy trout fishing in that famous body of water, were undertaken this week by the Department of Fish and Game. Armed with special equipment, the warden has asked sportsmen to assist him and are to report to the Lake Almanor Inn or the Westwood Rod and Gun Club.
Purchase of the Feather River Park, a 300 acre summer resort in Mohawk Valley, by J.N. Stephan of Quincy, C.M. Hamilton and C.G. Fitzgerald of Los Angeles from H.H. Hunt has been completed. The park is equipped with 31 modern cabins, a nine hole golf course. playground, swimming pool and a tennis court.
50 YEARS AGO............1962
A new method of alerting residents in case of disaster will be tried Friday morning when a siren and loudspeaker mounted on an airplane will be tested over Meadow Valley, Spring Garden, Sloat, Graeagle and Clio.
The Plumas County Board of Supervisors this week authorized a pay increase of $20.00 a month for every full time employee of Plumas County.
25 YEARS AGO............1987
Twelve members of the Tridentine Latin Rite Church including the local bishop, were arrested as the Plumas County SWAT team, officers of the Plumas County Sheriff”s Department from Greenville and Chester and backed by the California Highway Patrol converged on the Lake Almanor rented residence of the cult”s leader and the sect”s holdings in Canyon Dam and Greenville. Stolen property and drugs were found and confiscated.
10 YEARS AGO..........2002
The Department of Fish and Game blasted a one acre test section of Lake Davis with detonation cord to see if it could be used on a larger scale to rid the lake of Northern pike.
