Body in car is likely missing Meadow Valley man

    Human remains found Tuesday, June 4, are believed to be the body of a Meadow Valley man who has been missing since May 1.

 The California Highway Patrol and Caltrans personnel discovered the overturned 1969 Mercury Cougar belonging to Clifford Wade down an embankment along Highway 70 in Butte County.

    According to CHP Information Officer Doug Garrett, the Butte County Coroner is in the process of identifying the body.

    Wade’s car was discovered after the CHP responded to help a motorist who was stuck in a ditch about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday. The vehicle was stuck along Highway 70 near the Pulga bridge at milepost 38.4.
 

Quincy Fire District tax measure passes

The Quincy Fire Protection District needed 66 percent of the vote to pass Measure A; it received 78 percent during a special election June 4.
 
Chief Elections Official Kathy Williams posted the results after the polls closed at 8 p.m. Measure A is the $96 annual assessment that residents in the Quincy Fire Protection district will pay on their property tax bills for the next five years.

  On Thursday evening, June 27, Plumas-Eureka State Park Association will hold a fundraiser outdoors at the Moriarity House in the state park from 4 to 7 p.m. featuring two local musical groups, Ambrose Pollock and Benny, Penny & Dude.

  Appetizers will be provided by the David family and The Iron Door restaurant in Johnsville due to their generous donation.

  Tours of the Moriarity House led by park docents will also be available throughout the evening.

 

Supervisors approve trio of music festivals

  The Plumas County Board of Supervisors held two public hearings May 21 and then approved a trio of music events slated for this summer.

  Two of the music festivals will be held in Belden — “Priceless” and “Sunset Campout.” The third to receive the official stamp of approval is the High Sierra Music Festival.
