Sure it is snowing this morning. Yes there is a Winter Storm Warning in effect. (See the Plumas News.com Weather page for details.) And it is true that several Plumas County neighborhoods are still without electricity as a result of the current round of storms.
But there just may be a light at the end of the proverbial tunnel according to our weather expert Chris Fontana, aka The Old Forecaster. Chris contributes to our weather page daily with his expert insite into the weather forecast and what makes our local weather tick. Chris offers us this hopeful outlook for some actual Spring-like weather starting early this coming week:
Entering something in the fair is the backbone of the fair tradition. Whether it’s an animal, homemade jelly, a potato you grew or a photograph you’ve taken, the fair is the place to show what you’ve made, raised or grown. The Plumas-Sierra County Fair invites you to make an entry in the 2011 event, Aug. 10 – 14.
It’s not hard to understand how the Chatterbox Children’s Orchestra got its name. Twenty minutes into a recent practice, although their mouths are moving, the young musicians have yet to play a note.
But when director Johnene “Johny” McDonald raises her baton and the first note finally sounds, the noise in the room resolves from cacophony to harmony. Without a doubt, these kids can play.
Last week’s series of storms brought a lot of moisture to the area and completely saturated the ground, causing ponds where there was once dry ground and threats of flooding to those near rivers and lakes.
At a meeting Tuesday, March 8, the Plumas County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to create a resolution to ensure water rights were properly addressed and protected in all future Coordinated Resource Management (CRM) group projects.
