Quincy High’s tennis team hosted its annual invitational April 19-20 with matches being played around the clock. The Plumas Christian School team showed up to compete, as well as Downieville and River City.
“The tournament went great,” said Matt McMorrow, one of Quincy’s coaches. “Everyone had fun and every player got to play.”
Quincy has the only remaining tennis team in Plumas County’s public school system. Chester high had a team last year, but due to rising gas costs decided not to have a team this year. The Plumas Christian School’s program has an extensive history and is still going strong.
Stream and river outlook
There has been lots of talk about the snowpack this spring. It is well below normal: not what most people hoped for. Our north state reservoirs are all in good shape so the lighter-than-usual snowpack is not an immediate disaster. Two consecutive years like this will turn a moderate problem into a major problem.

In a win-win for the Portola High softball team and the players of the Portola Little League, the softball team held a clinic April 13 for the young up-and-comers to learn basic fundamentals of the game.
