75 YEARS AGO.......1936

California Governor Frank Merriman has accepted the invitation to attend the three-day Feather River Prosperity Jubilee on the Fourth of July weekend in Quincy. The Jubilee will feature a mile-long parade, baseball games, fireworks, boxing matches, Queen contest, rodeo and a ball with an eleven piece orchestra.

50 YEARS AGO.......1961

25 YEARS AGO......1986

Highway 70 through the Feather River Canyon is once again open to through traffic and as an added bonus, there will be no construction delays during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The State Highway has been closed since February 17 when flood waters ripped out large sections of road along a 35 mile stretch from the Greenville Wye to Pulga. One-way traffic will resume after the holiday.

10 YEARS AGO....2010

Emily Vukich of Cromberg was crowned 2001 Silver Buckle Rodeo Queen at the Taylorsville Rodeo.

Feather River College moved one step closer to its acquisition of the Quincy Athletic Club which is now in escrow. The club has been owned and operated by locals David Adrian, Dennis Barker, Dan Smith and Mike Taborski. In the meantime, the college will begin running the club July 1.
