Environmental effects can often cause striking results in something as normal as a sunset. Lake Almanor Basin photographer Jan Davies captured this dynamic panorama July 10 from the East Shore. She hazards the guess that the haze from the Colusa Fire is likely what produced such amazing color. Steeped in the shadows of the brilliantly setting sun are Lassen Peak and a lone fisherman.
