DFG has plans for Humbug Valley

The Maidu Summit is not the only organization requesting title to Pacific Gas & Electric lands in Humbug Valley.

In November the California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) cast its line into the water as well.

The accidents have been cleared and the highway is now open.

State route 70 - the entire roadway is blocked approximately 5 miles west
of the Greenville Wye due to numerous vehicle spin outs. R1 chain controls
in effect.

The roadway has been repaired and normal two-way traffic has been restored.

SR 70 remains under one way traffic control due to a large boulder blocking the westbound lane (see photos attached). Caltrans will go to a full closure to blast the boulder, planned for early this afternoon.

The victim of the accident is reported to be Judy Johnson of Greenville.

Collision with falling rock kills van driver on Highway 70

One way controlled trraffic remains in effect at the site of the accident. CanTrans sent a geologist to the site to assess the damage. Crews worked through the night.

A female motorist driving an older model van was killed about 3 p.m. when her van struck a boulder that apparently tumbled onto Highway 70 about three miles east of Belden,in the Feather River Canyon.

The Plumas County Department of Public Works will be hosting a public information meeting at the Graeagle Fire Hall on Hwy 89 in Graeagle from 4 PM to 6 PM on Monday, December 13th, 2010 to discuss the status of the Graeagle Transfer Station.

 

Special election underway; polling places consolidated

The special election to fill the vacancy of the late state Senator Dave Cox is now underway. Sample ballots have been mailed and permanent vote-by-mail ballots were sent Monday, Dec. 6.

The election will be a “consolidated” one with just one polling place — the county courthouse. Voters may vote by mail or at the courthouse. Other regular polling places will not be used.
