Weather Discussion; The Old Forecaster

The low pressure area that was over the Pacific Northwest has finally moved to the east.  As it was moving out it sent one more shot of clouds across the north state.  This is why it got cloudy for a while yesterday afternoon. 

Today is  starting off sunny but a weak low pressure trough is moving across the Pacific toward the coast and will move across Northern California late today and Sunday.  The north coast, Trinity, Siskiyou, and Modoc counties will increasing clouds this afternoon with isolated light showers late this afternoon and evening through Sunday afternoon. .  The valley and the rest of the north state will be sunny with a few clouds this afternoon and Sunday.   Temperatures today will be cooler in the north but slightly warmer elsewhere.  Gusty southwest to northwest winds will occur this afternoon.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 72. Light and variable wind becoming west southwest 5 to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Southwest wind 6 to 11 mph becoming light south southwest in the evening.

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly before 11am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 68. Light south southwest wind becoming southwest 10 to 15 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 23 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

  

Almanor continues warm and dry in April

  April in the Lake Almanor Basin continued the recent weather trend of lower than average precipitation and higher than average temperatures. Only 1 inch of snowfall was recorded on the West Shore during April, bringing the season total to 138 inches or 109 percent of the long-term average for this point in the customary water year (July through June).
