The Plumas Children’s Council invites everyone to share in the fun of the 26th annual Children’s Fair. The fair will be held Saturday, May 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds in Quincy.
The fair offers families the opportunity to spend the day together doing fun, free activities.

After a 14-year stint as principal to both Chester Elementary School and Chester High School, beloved principal Scott Cory has resigned, effective June 30.
With much deliberation, Cory said he accepted a position as the superintendent for Santa Ynez Valley Union High School District — the same district from which Cory graduated high school.
Plumas County supervisors were in the mood to say “yes” May 7 and approved several requests to fill vacant positions.
Social Services Director Elliott Smart received approval to hire a benefits assistance counselor, a social worker, an office assistant and a staff services analyst.
The Greenville Cy Hall Memorial Museum is pleased to announce that the next History Night at the Museum is set for Thursday, May 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Over the past two seasons, the history nights have explored the ages when the Mountain Maidu had Indian Valley to themselves, managing its resources and enjoying an isolated paradise, followed by prospectors pouring into the valley.

Measure A will help the volunteers continue their work
In the space of 15 minutes, three calls came into the Quincy Fire Department — a fire pit complaint, a request for medical aid and a cat up a tree — yes, fire departments really do get calls about treed cats.
Those calls last Monday afternoon are just a sample of what Chief Robbie Cassou and the volunteer firefighters handle on a daily basis beyond responding to fires.
This week the ballots for Measure A will arrive in local mailboxes. They must be returned by June 4.
