Greenville water is OK, even with storms

Greenville residents used to boil water notices during major storm events may not have noticed, but they did not receive one this time.

The new state-of-the-art membrane filtration system is handling the storms well, according to chief operator Jesse Lawson, and not balking like the previous system.

 

Winterfest to offer Chilly Chili Cook Off

Bit by bit, word is getting out about the line-up of Winterfest activities being sponsored by the Chester-Lake Almanor Chamber of Commerce, the business community and local service organizations.

To date, two events have been announced for Saturday, Jan. 15, the Almanor Basin Chapter of the American Red Cross will host an 8 – 11 a.m. breakfast at the Lake Almanor Elks Lodge in Old Town Chester.

  

County to appeal OHV plan

The Plumas County Board of Supervisors unanimously directed county staff to submit an appeal to the Forest Service, protesting the Plumas National Forest’s (PNF) new Travel Management Plan, at a Tuesday, Dec. 19, meeting.

Public Works Director Bob Perreault told the board multiple county committees reviewed the Forest Service’s plan, resulting in a recommendation that the board appeal the decision.
