Nobody protested the proposed rate hike at the East Quincy Services District (EQSD) protest hearing July 2. The board of directors approved the increase, which ups sewer rates by 3 percent.

A single-family residence currently paying $43.78 will pay an additional $1.31 per month.

The base use charge for water fees will remain the same: $26.87 per 6,000 gallons for a single-family residence.

The employment contract for temporary field worker Tobi Leathers was extended for one month or two weeks after the start of the new general manager, who has yet to be hired.

Interviews for that position, vacated by Mary Henrici last August, will be conducted starting July 11.

Henrici, EQSD general manager for 22 years, stepped down when negotiations to merge with Quincy Community Services District broke down in April 2011.

Henrici is one of four candidates for the position, which the board hopes to fill by Aug. 1.

EQSD will benefit from the High Sierra Music Festival renting its field at the end of Railway for staging purposes. EQSD will earn $2,500 for the use of its property.

The board meets for its next regular meeting July 10 at 6:30 p.m.
