Maidu Theater explores modern issues

The toxic legacy of mining, ecosystem encroachment and an animal perspective of the occupy movement will be the topics explored in the first Maidu Theater Saturday, May 26, from 6 to 8:30 p.m., in the Taylorsville Grange Hall.

Maidu Theater will be presented in the Maidu language with English translation.

Yetometo Koyo’s Farrell Cunningham and the Maidu Theater Group will present the production.

Three Maidu skits of the Tsiakim Maidu revolve around economic, ecological and social justice themes.

The skit “Mercury” will deal with the toxic legacy of mining.

The “Big Game” skit will be about ecosystem encroachment.

“Animals Occupy” will be an animal perspective on the occupy movement and economics.

Admission will be $10 at the door.
