  Lake Almanor resident, neurosurgeon and author Jeffrey M. Lobosky, M.D., will make a presentation to the community on the future of health care in America on Saturday, May 25, 6 p.m. at Books & Beyond in Chester.

  

County Picnic adds events

  For many years now, the Plumas County Picnic has been associated with the Sierra Cascade Street Rodders’ show and shine. The 2013 version of the picnic is no different. However, this year will feature a new, and hopefully annual, attraction: the Plumas County Picnic Swap Meet.

  

Quincy Certified Farmers Market resumes June 20

  Fresh fruits and vegetables will return to the Quincy Certified Farmers Market site in front of the school district office on Main Street on Thursday, June 20.

  In addition to fresh local produce, the market will offer an expanded prepared food section as well as artisan, crafter and educational booths. Live music will accompany each weekly market.

  

More emergencies drive new department formation

  Plumas County may soon have a new department — the Department of Emergency Management and Environmental Health.

  “This would be catching up the administrative structure with the day-to-day reality,” Jerry Sipe told the Board of Supervisors during its May 14 meeting.
