Robert “Bob” Fausto Gilberti
Becky L. McIntyre
Robert “Bob” Fausto Gilberti, 63, of Quincy, California, passed away on June 18, 2014. He was born on March 24, 1951, in Teaneck, New Jersey, to the late Fausto “Fred” and Flora Gilberti.
He is survived by his wife, Susan Gilberti and his daughters Lisa Gilberti-Ricci (husband Keith Ricci) and Shauna Righellis (husband Greg Righellis). He is also survived by his brothers Ray Gilberti (wife Kristin Gilberti), Richard Gilberti (wife Lorelei Gilberti) and sister Leeann McNicholas (husband John McNicholas) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bob was an integral part of the Quincy community. After receiving his BA degree in Music from San Francisco State University, he moved to Quincy where he began teaching in the Plumas Unified School District in 1977. A well-respected and passionate music teacher, Bob was affectionately known as “Mr. G” or “Music Man” to his students and friends. Having served his community for over 30 years, Bob retired from teaching in 2009.
Bob was very passionate about playing his trumpet. Over the years, he performed with the Quincy Big Band, Feather River Dixieland Band, High Sierra Youth Orchestra, Banal Tones, Brass Quartets and a variety of musical theater productions. Known for his outstanding trumpet playing, he, along with his daughters, annually serenaded the Quincy residents on Christmas Eve with his rendition of “Silent Night.”
In addition to music, Bob had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed playing poker with his buddies and family, as well as boating, fly-fishing, geocaching and woodworking, and would often hang out at the bike shop. Camping was one of Bob’s favorite hobbies. His summers were spent with his family and friends camping at Buck’s Lake and backpacking to Rock Lake. But most of all he was a devoted husband, father, and friend who went out of his way to help and spend time with them. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
To honor Bob’s memory and his devotion to music and teaching, his family has established the “Bob Gilberti Memorial Music Scholarship Fund.” In lieu of flowers, the family is accepting donations to this fund which can be made at any Plumas Bank branch.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life on Sunday, July 27, 2014, in Quincy. Exact time and place to be announced soon.
