March is Women’s History Month and while not every woman is famous, she still has her place in history — simply by virtue of what she has done.

BRubyNinety-two this month and no bigger than a minute, Ruby Vocke is a spitfire — appropriate considering her service in the Navy as an aviation machinist’s mate during World War II.

 

FRC to consider layoff notices for faculty

Trustees for Feather River College will consider faculty layoffs at a special meeting this afternoon, 3 p.m. on campus in room Science 104. The college has proposed cuts to five positions: a half-time cut each to men's basketball, women's basket and physical education, and a full-time cut to early childhood education and administrative office management. DA says his budget is shrinking

District Attorney (DA) David Hollister told the Plumas County Board of Supervisors his budget for the current fiscal year was $163,724 lighter compared to the previous year, with the county’s General Fund contribution and grant funding both shrinking.
