100 YEARS AGO....1909
Eleven train carloads of steel arrived at Keddie station early this week to be used in the construction of the Keddie bridge to span over Spanish Creek with more carloads expected for that purpose. The big cement piers are nearing completion. The bridge will be 400 feet long and 150 feet above the river bed.
75 YEARS AGO….1934
Loss by fire, estimated at $150,000, was caused Tuesday night when the famous Lee Lodge in Chester and adjoining buildings were destroyed. The hotel, a restaurant, a home and a store there was reduced to ashes.
50 YEARS AGO….1959

The Sierra-Plumas Joint Unified School District passed a resolution this week changing the boundary lines so that it makes it possible for Beckwourth students to attend school in Portola, instead of Loyalton.
