In third place came the toasty duo of David Smuts and John Bowen.

Old Beezlebub didn’t show up for the competition because he thought it was too hot!

Hot fun in the summertime...

July 16th was still a scorcher, but five two-man teams played in the Wednesday Morning Scramble.

Two teams tied for first place and a chip-off determined the winner.

In first place was the duo of Ron Christensen and Ted Trafton. The chip-off put the second place duet of Jeff Stevens and Tom Rogers in the standing.

Thursday evening’s scramble on July 17th was well-attended and as the evening progressed, it cooled off nicely. The competition stayed hot, however with two teams coming in at five under par. Once more, a chip-off determined the winner.

Second place went to Dick Grace, Carol Metzdorf and Gary Metzdorf.

Graeagle Men’s Golf Association (GMGA)
Jack & Jill Tournament

The GMGA held their annual Jack & Jill Couples’ Tournament on Wednesday, July 16. The format for this tournament is Chapman Scotch. Under this format, each player tees off from their assigned tee, then each player plays a ball from the position where their partner’s tee shot came to rest. After each has played their second shot, the best shot is selected and the person who did not hit to that position plays the next shot, and it is alternate shot from there until the ball is holed. This format sometimes makes for some interesting conversation between the partners — usually a married couple. There were seven teams competing in the White/Red Tee Standard Division. The winning team in this Division was Jim and Bev Reynolds with a score of 64, second was Dan and Holly Anderson with a score of 68.

In the Combo Division there were 16 teams. The winners were Woody and Renee Miller with a score of 59; second was Marv and Jan Pierce with 64; third was a tie between Jim and Cheryl Brennan, Dennis and Alaine Flynn and Ron Eaton and Dee Walker with scores of 66.
