If you asked a group of your average Plumas residents what the largest cause of intoxication-related deaths in the county has been this year, excluding suicide, most people would probably guess it was DUI crashes involving alcohol.
If you gave them a hint and said it actually involved drugs they might guess that meth-related incidents would be the answer because methamphetamine is considered by many to be the largest hard-drug problem in the county and country.

Following up on a tentative ruling he made at the beginning of October, a federal judge has determined, after years of litigation, which forest management rules should be in play on national forests in the Sierra Nevada.

The decision affects approximately 75 projects throughout the mountain range.

Eastern Plumas Health Care has just taken a big step forward in emergency care for heart patients. The new technology allows 12-lead EKG’s taken in the field to be sent immediately to the emergency room where doctors there read them.
At that point, they can determine whether the patient should go to a hospital in Sparks or Reno that is capable of doing heart surgery, or if the condition is something less severe that EPHC can treat in its emergency room.
