Plumas Unified School District outlined sweeping recommendations for school closures and faculty layoffs for the 2012-13 academic year at the school board meeting Wednesday, Jan. 11.
Intensifying efforts to catch perpetrators of ongoing vandalism in Greenville, especially at the community center, is the goal of Plumas County Sheriff Greg Hagwood.

Plumas Unified School District called Feather Publishing this morning and advised that all schools including Quincy, Greenville, Chester and Portola will start on time this morning, Monday, Jan. 23, 2012. Buses in most areas will be chained up and running at the maximum of 35 MPH allowed on the highways under chain restrictions. Students in those areas may notice small delays.
A Greenville grandmother known for her loving and caring ways was bilked out of $5,000 Tuesday, Jan. 10. And she is not the first Indian Valley or Plumas County resident to fall victim to this new sort of a scam.
Money she thought was going to help her grandson out of a jam in Reno actually went to someone in Perú.
Greenville logger Randy Pew said he was upbeat after the latest round of talks with the U.S. Forest Service.
“I think we had a very good meeting,” said Pew, owner of Pew Forest Products. “It was the first time I didn’t feel like we had to go to war to try to justify our position.”
