Fire crews responded to at least five roadside spot fires along Highway 36 in Susanville.
July 26, 2010 — Lassen County fire personnel are responding to a fire near the junction between Highway 395 and Highway 36, which closed Highway 36 in both directions for a brief period. Law enforcement units were seen directing traffic in both directions as of 1 p.m. on Monday, July 26.
Former High Desert State Prison Sergeant Todd Posch was recently sentenced to 30 days of jail time, 300 hours of community service and three years of formal probation.
He will likely spend his 30 days in a non-jail setting such as house arrest because of his background in law enforcement.
The Soaring Eagle Chapter of the Blue Star Mothers will present a Gold Star Banner to a Chester mother to honor her son who was killed in Vietnam in 1969.
Christine Boyd, president of the Blue Star Mothers in Lassen County, said a Gold Star Banner was never presented to the family of United States Marine Corps Private First Class Richard Elliot Huff, who was killed during a firefight in Quag Tri Province April 11, 1969.
